Jewish Art Salon Open Studios Programs: Live on Zoom and Archived on YouTube

Judith Joseph and Dorit Jordan Dotan curate and host the JAS OS Programs. Support is provided by Yona Verwer, Director of the Jewish Art Salon, an international artists’ organization, and team members Cheselyn Amato and Chana Wiesenthal Elias. The programs are one hour and feature 2-3 artists, who present their work and engage in Q & A. Programs are planned for once or twice a month into Spring, 2021. The featured artists are members of the Jewish Art Salon who responded to a call, or were invited.

Artists’ Beit Midrash 2020 Virtual Exhibition: On The Edge: Jewish Ideas about Margins, Marginality and Marginalization

The 2020 Artists’ Beit Midrash (ABM) Exhibition showcases visual and literary art that was created by artist-participants in the seventh annual ABM class, hosted by North Suburban Synagogue Beth El.  The class was taught by Jane Shapiro (text study) and Judith Joseph (art topics).

Artists worked in many media, including:  video, photography, mixed media, painting, calligraphy, collage, digital art, drawing and printmaking.  Literary works include poems and prose pieces.

The following artists participated:  Lois Barr, Suzanne Horwitz, Judith Joseph, Andrea Kamen, Charlotte Kaplan, Judith Kaufman, Ruti Modlin, Judith Solomon, Sandy Starkman, Sandy Wasserman and Chana Zelig.

The work was presented online in a virtual exhibition.
